Recent work
The recent works have in common a search for collaboration between technology and know-how. In an era where the machine replaces the hand in almost all tasks, attempts are made here to explore what the hand can bring to the machine via the search for forms that neither could realize alone. Three tracks are explored here. The first one seeks/creates forms inaccessible to robotics, at the risk of breaking the marble (example the COVID virus). The second one is inspired by typical objects/designs of the digital sphere (emoji, qr codes). The third uses digital tools to shape forms that are inaccessible or unnatural for the human hand or mind (still confidential tests).
At the heart of this path are errors and accidents, essential events for testing, sharpening and materializing ideas.
Accident, error and chance
Accident, error and chance are all part of the same nebula where a phenomenon escapes us. However, as far as creativity is concerned, it is sometimes useful to emphasize “failure” because any loss of control forces improvisation. Error, failure, derailment, rupture, tipping, etc. are all, according to their scale, incidents or catastrophes that open up unexpected paths. These phenomena are in principle negative since they divert a process in progress, break a project or confuse a plan. However, these unforeseen events, as destructive as they may be, generate novelty. In this, they are sometimes also positive
WATER DROP (collaboration Stata Architecture)
